Some basic rules to protect its messaging

0 / Beware of ALL the messages you receive. Without falling into the paranoid, it is possible that you receive a message from someone you know, the machine is infected. Be on your guard, especially when there is an attachment, if a message''Posted''(TR) or''response''(Re:) to one of your previous posts that you never sent! ... (see Section 4 for details).

Try to see the''source''of the message if your correspondent formally invites you to see the attachment (see paragraph 7 below for handling)

Also, be careful of the language used by your knowledge or any other unusual detail''''... (eg, a French friend writes in English ...)1 / To avoid inadvertent opening of unwanted messages:

Disable the preview pane. You know? When you have your page Messaging is in 2 parts: above, messages received and below the window that lets you preview your messages = makes your messages are opened, thus Activation (partial or total) of viruses or worms!!

Instructions for disabling parts: In the main window of your email (if you just open your mail for the first time), top left next to File and Edit, select View, then Layout, then clear the check mark''Show preview pane.''

2 / Never respond to an infected email or Spam. Otherwise, it proves that your address is active ... (see paragraph 7). Simply delete the message.

3 / In Windows:

a) regularly update (~ 1x / s) your Firewall (firewall) and anti-virus, knowing that some viruses disable anti-virus ...

b) Update your PC and download security patches at Windows Update.

c) If you have XP, enable the firewall (Start, Connect To, Show all connections, right click the connection icon, Properties, Advanced Settings, Protect my computer).

d) Make frequent backups of your files on disk or diskette.

e) Create restore points (Win 98/XP). This will allow you to recover your data in the condition they were before the eventual crash. (Start, All Programs, System Tools, System Restore).Warning! Before creating or revert to a previous restore point, and Disable Close running programs including your antivirus, firewall or antispyware!

4 / Banish the message (in subject or object). Most messages with''''Cochonneries have the Re, Fw, Tr and pretending it is a''response''or''transfer''message from someone one that we know or not ...

To be precise, we can actually do return messages, clicking on''Reply to''or''Reply All'', but it is better to remove the''Re''or object to in n ' matter what title instead (Reprise, Delay, etc.).Although at present we can not really rely on this kind of index.

5 / Prior to surf the Internet, create your mail account a''phony''and then select it as the Default account. So when you give your address on commercial sites, they have your account you can and avoid being a victim of spam.

Do not forget to reactivate your account by default true when you have a serious match (or when sending your message, select the tab,''''In your real account).

6 / To avoid the spread in case your PC is infected: in your Address Book, create one or more addresses''Can''(eg ac@abc.zz and 0123@123.yz). Thus, virus or worm that wish to spread, will stop at these addresses homeless issues and avoid to send itself to your entire address book.

7 / Example code in an infected message

Below you will find an example of source code with which we can detect dangerous messages. Most of the time they are accompanied by an attachment ...

You can read Subject:''Test''or''Hi''or''Hello''or''Undelivery message''or''kfjdghgjhg''or any sort of name that does not attract the attention necessarily ...

In case of suspicion, you can: click (1x) with the right mouse button on the message that has not yet been opened, then Properties, then click Details. There, I hope that you will not see a code similar to the one below.

Practice can be Sure with messages at the beginning ... ;-)

ANALYSIS

In''Return-Path''shows that the message comes from Russia ...

In''message''Id = random number of sending messages ...

In red: Author of the virus (using multiple addresses and hidden)

Pink: PC infected (victim) who served as''transfer''to pass on (the) infected messages

Green: your address

8 / Other explanations and precautions:

You receive many messages from strangers saying they received a message from you containing a virus? You do not know these people and you have not sent their messages.Furthermore, you are also sure that your machine is not infected by this virus. How can we explain it? You fly does one email address? Someone impersonating Does your identity?

It is not. All the latest virus type Worm that spread through the Outlook e-mail, change the sender of the messages they send. Thus, on an infected machine, the address book in Outlook is used by the virus to find recipients who self-dispatch, and he also chooses the sender's name as it will displayed. The recipient of these messages believes therefore receive a message, contaminated and more, Mr. X, when in fact he left the machine of Mr. Y, and no trace and no link can be made with the position of Mr Y. The recipient then responds to the message to complain about the sending of this virus and it is Mr. X who receives the complaint. But there is nothing.

There is no flight e-mail or voluntary identity theft, because it is simply due to the operation of these viruses that hide behind their spread in this way. It is therefore useful to respond to all these messages that you announce that you are infected, simply destroy them.

Finally, the risk of repeating myself, regularly update (1 times / week) your Antivirus, Firewall, Windows Update (critical updates).Create regular restore points (you can also delete the old restore points to avoid overloading your hard drive).Make regular backups of your files on CD or DVD.
